Alabama Port Authority says it is not pushing to remove tunnels under Mobile River

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Alabama Port Authority is not pushing for the removal of tunnels ferrying traffic underneath the Mobile River, a spokesman said Tuesday.

U.S. Rep. Shomari Figures (D-Mobile) last week touted his efforts for changes to a transportation spending bill that would provide funding for the removal or modification of tunnels that restrict ship operations.
