SUMMERDALE, Ala. (WALA) – A Baldwin County man is behind bars tonight, accused of sending a series of fake threats to a crisis hotline.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Wesley McMeen today. He faces four counts of swatting, each a Class C felony under Alabama law.
According to court documents, between April 30 and May 11, 2026, McMeen contacted the Crisis Text Line multiple times, sending a barrage of threatening messages referencing a home on West Washington Avenue in Summerdale.
According to the records, in one exchange, McMeen wrote: “I have hostages at my house come get me.” In another, he allegedly claimed: “I’m ready to blow the bombs.” Investigators say he also sent messages stating: “I’ll kill everyone,” “Send the cops or more dies,” and “I have bombs under the house I’m about to blow up Summerdale.”…
