MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Residents in northern Mobile County are speaking out against a proposed data center they say could change the character of their community.

Beacon Data Centers is proposing a 95-acre infrastructure hub on a 650-acre industrial parcel off Highway 43 near Calvert, along the Mobile County and Washington County line. The company says the project would create about 1,000 construction jobs and 250 permanent jobs.
Some neighbors, however, worry the project could have long-term impacts on the area.
