Construction Begins on Last Segment of Foley’s Alabama 59 Pedestrian Corridor

The new section will connect Azalea Avenue to Pride Drive, completing a continuous pedestrian route through the heart of the city.

Foley, Ala. — (OBA) — Construction has begun on the final segment of a nearly four-mile sidewalk network along Alabama 59 in Foley. The project marks a major milestone in the city’s long-term effort to improve pedestrian safety and connectivity. Once complete, the corridor will provide continuous sidewalk access along one of the city’s busiest transportation routes. 

The final section will fill a 1.25-mile gap between Azalea Avenue and Pride Drive, near Foley High School. Work on the segment was announced on July 6, 2026. When finished, the network will run from Miflin Road (also known as Baldwin County Road 20), south of Tanger Outlets, all the way north to Peachtree Avenue…
