FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) – Construction of three breakwater structures began this week at Magnolia Beach as the city of Fairhope moves to address a long-running erosion problem at one of its only natural sand beaches.
Truckloads of heavy rock are being brought in and stacked at strategic points off the beach. The $600,000 project is fully funded through a Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act grant.
Survey delays pushed back start of project
