PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) – A senior advisor for the city of Prichard was arrested Tuesday on outstanding warrants stemming from a 2020 traffic stop.
Court records show TJ Pettway, the city’s director of civic and cultural affairs, was stopped in June 2020 near Old Pascagoula Road. State troopers said he was driving with a driver’s license that had been suspended since 2015 and that his private vehicle was equipped with an illegal light bar and an audible siren.
Warrants were issued in August 2020 after Pettway failed to appear in court.
City responds
Mayor Carletta Davis confirmed Tuesday that Pettway remains employed with the city.
The city did not respond to questions about the arrest or whether Pettway drives a city vehicle as part of his job. Questions remain outstanding, including whether Pettway was authorized to drive a city vehicle and whether a valid driver’s license is required for his position…
