Baldwin County names new superintendent

BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) – The Baldwin County Board of Education has selected Marty McRae as the district’s next superintendent, ending his tenure as interim leader.

McRae fills the role left by longtime Superintendent Eddie Tyler, who retired after 50 years in education — including 11 years leading Baldwin County Public Schools. Tyler’s retirement took effect June 30, 2026.

McRae brings 36 years of experience in public education — all within Baldwin County Public Schools. He has served as a teacher, coach, technology coordinator, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent.

Before being named interim superintendent, McRae served as assistant superintendent of Prevention and Support/Student Services. In that role, he oversaw transportation, child nutrition, attendance, alternative education, after-school programs, counseling, and health services.
