MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A theft turned to robbery when an employee at a local business was assaulted, according to the Mobile Police Department.

According to an MPD news release, officers were called to the ALDI at 1550 Government Blvd., in reference to a robbery.
The call came in around 7 p.m. Sunday, after officials said a male tried to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. He allegedly assaulted an employee who tried to get the merchandise back.
The suspect allegedly tried to get into a car that was waiting outside, but the car left without him. Officials said he left the merchandise there and ran off…
