PRICHARD, Ala. (WKRG) — Three Prichard City Council members have released a statement expressing their concern over the Prichard Police Department and public safety.

Council members Traci Hale, Stephani Norwood, and Annie Williams said they were not made aware of the plan, nor were they part of a discussion with Mayor Carletta Davis to place PPD officers on 30 days of paid administrative leave.
“The first communication we received regarding this plan came after the administration had already determined that officers would be placed on administrative leave,” a joint statement from Hale, Norwood and Williams said. “A decision of this magnitude, one that directly affects police protection for thousands of Prichard residents, should not occur without a clear and coordinated public-safety plan.”
The councilmembers said they are even more concerned because the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office will stop providing patrol and dispatch services to the city within a week…
