Bay Minette man, police officer collide head-on in high-speed vehicle chase

BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Bay Minette police officer’s vehicle collided head-on with a suspect’s vehicle during a high-speed chase on Friday afternoon, according to the Bay Minette Police Department.

Around 3:25 p.m. Friday, a Bay Minette police officer attempted to stop a 2021 Kia SUV, which Ronnie Eugene Stanley, of Bay Minette was driving.

According to authorities, Stanley refused to stop and led officers on a high-speed chase. Stanley allegedly drove his vehicle on the wrong side of the road and failed to stop for numerous stop signs.

Near the intersection of County Road 138 and Rieben Lane, Stanley’s vehicle and a police officer’s vehicle collided head-on, which caused disabling damage to both vehicles. Stanley was then taken into custody without further incident, according to the police department.

CRASH LOCATION:

Stanley and the police officer were taken to North Baldwin Infirmary Hospital for treatment. The police officer has been released with no significant injuries.
