Judge gives prosecutors green light to use social media post in murder-for-hire trial

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A federal judge on Wednesday gave prosecutors the green light to use a murder-for-hire defendant’s social media posts at his trial. Attorneys for Darrius Dewayne Rowser, 20, of Prichard, had sought to prohibit such evidence, arguing that it was irrelevant, could not be authenticated and would serve only to cast the defendant in a negative light. That evidence included a video he sent showing himself firing an illegally modified gun, as well as messages in which he discussed various aspects of the plot.
