MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The City of Mobile’s Department of Public Safety is hosting a Gun Violence Prevention Community Workshop.

According to city officials, the event is set for April 23 and will allow local leaders, community partners and residents to build stronger connections while also sharing resources and coming up with practical strategies to prevent gun violence.

There will be a panel of speakers at the event, which includes:

  • Dr. Gerard Tate — City of Mobile Director of the Office of Prevention and Mitigation
  • Tammie George — Principal of Williamson Middle and High School
  • Akareem Spear — Bishop State Dean of Workforce Development
  • Nija Hill — Mothers Involved Against Gun Violence
  • Phelon Carter — City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Teen Mentor Coordinator
  • Lorenzo Green — City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Advisory District 2
