BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Several Baldwin County cities have issued warnings about a new scam being sent to phones via text.
Grand Bay resident recalls moments after deadly gas station shooting
According to a number of Facebook posts, including Daphne, Fairhope, and Orange Beach police departments, residents are receiving a text that resembles a notice from the State of Alabama traffic division of St. Louis County and states the recipient owes unpaid tolls, traffic fines, and court costs.
“The notice references courts, counties, and state codes that do not exist in Alabama,” a Daphne Police Department Facebook post said. “Do not scan the QR code, send payments, or provide personal info.”
A similar warning issued by the Fairhope Police Department said this is a verified scam, and “law enforcement across Alabama and Missouri are warning the public,” an FPD Facebook post said…
