After 32 years, genetic genealogy and DNA testing identifies Texas man found in Alabama

More than 32 years ago, a grisly discovery was made in a rural area about 2-1/2 miles south of Interstate 65 in North Baldwin County.

For decades, the identity of the man found dead from a gunshot wound remained a mystery. That changed this week. Through a genetic genealogy search using public databases such as Family Tree DNA and Ancestry.com, investigators were able to build a comprehensive DNA profile and identify the victim as James Carol Jackson of Groveton, Texas.
