‘TikTok Trickster’ faces higher bond, additional charges in Daphne

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) – A man police have nicknamed the “TikTok Trickster,” accused of running romance scams that targeted women across the country, is being held in the Baldwin County Jail after a judge increased his bond and authorities filed additional felony charges tied to Daphne, police said.

Brenton Fillers is now charged with four felonies, including allegations that he stole $2,000 and a debit card from a West Virginia woman while they were staying at a Daphne hotel — accusations investigators say predate a 2023 case in Spanish Fort in which a woman reported Fillers offered to repair her vehicle but she never got it back.

This week, a judge raised Fillers’ bond from $7,500 to $25,000 cash after Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber asked the court to increase it, citing concerns Fillers could quickly convince someone to post bond and disappear. Barber said investigators also pointed to Fillers’ criminal history, multiple aliases and a pattern of failing to appear in court…
