If you’ve ever driven through downtown Mobile, you’ve likely seen the building known as the Temple of Mobile or the Temple Downtown. It’s difficult to miss the Egyptian Revival-style building and it’s on the market for $6.9 million. The temple was built ca.- 1921 when Egyptology was all the rage. Archaeologist Howard Carter, who would discover King Tut’s tomb in 1922, found the Karnak Temple at Luxor in 1901, according to the website for the Temple Downtown, which is being used as a venue.
