MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — An alligator that attacked a dog in Mobile has been euthanized.

According to Marianne Gauldin with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the alligator was euthanized as it was deemed a danger to public safety.

The reptile in question attacked Ginger, a golden retriever, at Tricentennial Park in Mobile on Saturday, April 18.

Ginger’s owner, Lacey Noonan, says that the dog jumped into the pond after being let off her leash and came snout-to-snout with the alligator.

The alligator briefly dragged Ginger down in the water. However, Ginger left the encounter completely unharmed…
