FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) – 50 years ago, a man named Rick Gambino took a chance, opening the doors to an Italian restaurant that would soon become a Fairhope staple.

Since opening in 1976, Gambino’s Italian Grill has been a go-to spot on Mobile Bay for generations.
“Well, it’s not just a restaurant to me,” restaurant owner Rick Gambino said. “Every time I go there, I’m going home, you know.”
Gambino’s Italian Grill is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
From first dates to weeknight family traditions and even surprise celebrity appearances, this place has seen it all over the past five decades.
“I have granddaughters working for me as adults and saying, ‘ My grandmother used to serve food here,” Gambino told News 5. “I don’t mean to brag, I’m just proud and happy that people like the restaurant.”…
