MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The University of South Alabama Health System’s Providence Hospital will stop delivering newborn babies this summer, the university confirmed Wednesday.
USA Health told FOX10 News that the move has been forced by Mobile OB-GYN P.C.’s decision to close. The private practice has been in business since 1953. As the primary provider of obstetric care at the hospital, the closure makes it impossible for Providence to continue providing around-the-clock labor and delivery.
Marie Katz, executive director of marketing and communications for USA Health, said in a statement that USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital will assume labor and delivery functions from Providence this summer, a USA Health spokeswoman told FOX10 News…
