RIPON, Calif. — A family of three, including a 3-year-old boy, was rescued from the Stanislaus River on Tuesday afternoon after becoming stranded in dangerous water conditions near Ripon, according to the Ripon Consolidated Fire District.
Fire officials said crews were called to the river after the family began yelling for help to a relative on shore. Fire Chief Eric DeHart said a father, mother and their 3-year-old son entered the water but soon struggled to make it back to shore as the current carried them farther downstream.
