‘Pulled his rescuer underwater’: A close call on the Stanislaus River

(FOX40.COM) — Bystanders saved a couple, aged 21 and 22 years old, from drowning in the Stanislaus River on Sunday, the Ripon Fire District says.

The male individual entered the water without a life jacket and didn’t know how to swim, said those on-scene at the time, the agency said in a social media post.

The victim began struggling, so his partner entered the water to help, but he “pulled his rescuer underwater,” endangering both lives…
