Officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Modesto Area graveyard shift recently initiated a traffic stop on a Kia vehicle traveling along State Route 33. The vehicle was recorded traveling at a speed of 84 miles per hour in an area where the posted speed limit is 55 miles per hour.
During the course of the traffic enforcement stop, officers conducted an inspection of the vehicle and located a firearm situated near the right front passenger. Upon further investigation, law enforcement determined that the passenger was a convicted felon. Because of this legal status, the individual is categorized as a prohibited person regarding the ownership or possession of firearms.
