The National Weather Service office in Sacramento has issued a heat advisory for the entire Central Valley, and mountainous portions of Northern California, through Sunday evening amid a forecast for the hottest temperatures so far this summer.
These hot temperatures, the subject of Thursday’s forecast, will roast the Central Valley and inland California all weekend with heat well above normal for early August. For the San Joaquin Valley, temperatures approaching 110 degrees are expected near Fresno and Bakersfield.
For the Sacramento Valley, the further north you are the hotter you will be. Areas close to the Delta region, such as Stockton, will top out in the low 100s or even slide just underneath that. Temps quickly rise as you travel north. Highs close to 105 degrees are expected for Sacramento each day from Friday through Sunday. Further north in Chico and Redding, several locations will again be flirting with 110.
Meanwhile, for the Sierra foothills and the Coast Ranges, highs in the low 100s and 90s will still be well above average, adding heat stress that residents may otherwise not be used too…
