San Joaquin County Suspect Arrested for 53 Counts of Grand Theft Involving Carson Pass RV in Lockeford

August 24, 2026 – San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on August 19, investigators arrested

44-year-old Thomas Shurtz in connection with the ongoing investigation into Carson Pass RV and allegations involving recreational vehicles placed on consignment.

Investigators have determined that multiple RVs may have been sold without proper notification to their rightful owners and without completing the required DMV documentation. Shurtz was arrested on 53 counts of Grand Theft, in violation of California Penal Code § 487(a), and is currently being held on $2.1 million bail.
