A 22-year-old who was prosecuted as a juvenile in the 2020 gang-related shooting that killed a 14-year-old Modesto girl will remain in custody after a judge rejected a proposal that could have placed him in the community under GPS monitoring.
Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Annette Rees on Friday ordered Christopher Daniel Jones into the county’s secure youth treatment program, setting a four-year baseline term after describing the killing of Maria Guadalupe Juarez as “a horrendous crime” and “the brutal and senseless murder of a child.”
