(FOX40.COM) — The California primary election is taking place on March 5, and residents of the 9th Congressional District, which largely overlaps San Joaquin County, will have an opportunity to make their selection for whom they want to represent them in Washington D.C.

On the primary election ballot, voters will decide which two candidates make it to the general election on November 5. The general election winner will be the U.S. Representative for the 9th Congressional District of California .

Rep. Josh Harder (D) won in the 2022 election and is running for reelection. He defeated incumbent Rep. Jeff Denham (R), making him one of seven new congressional members who flipped a California district from Republican to Democratic, according to Ballotpedia .

These are the candidates and measures on the primary election ballot in Stanislaus County

Harder’s challengers this year are Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln (R), John McBride (R), and Khalid Jeffrey Jafri (R).
