Fatal I-5 crash near Modesto leaves one dead, passenger airlifted

STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. — A fatal crash took the life of a 44-year-old man on Interstate 5 north of Stuhr Road near Modesto this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver was traveling northbound on I-5 around 10:40 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, he drove into the center median and overturned the vehicle, CHP said. The vehicle landed on its roof on the southbound I-5 shoulder. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, says CHP.

Angela Quiroga, 32, was the passenger and sustained major injuries. She was transported by helicopter to a local hospital, according to CHP…
