Stockton foster youth 1st in state to join HOPE Trust Account Program

As May observes National Foster Care Month, Stockton Unified School District foster youth were the first in California to participate in a statewide pilot launch of the HOPE Trust Account Program.

More than 100 students in grades from 6 to 12 were transported from seven Stockton high schools to the district’s admissions office on Wednesday, May 6, where they entered the centralized enrollment center in groups to apply for the program. Participating schools included Stockton High, Jane Frederick High School, Weber Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology, Edison High School, Stagg High School, Franklin High School and Cesar Chavez High School.
