Stockton officials study rent regulations as affordability concerns grow

STOCKTON, Calif. — Leaders in Stockton are exploring possible rent regulation policies as city officials say affordability concerns continue to grow for residents. The talks have some landlords concerned.

“In my district, I hear continually that affordability is nonexistent. Things are expensive — gas, groceries, paying your rent,” said Mario Enriquez. “If people say 30% of your income goes to rent alone, what does that mean for everything else to put food on the table?”
