Heat Advisory in Effect Saturday

A Heat Advisory has been issued for much of the Florida Panhandle, Florida Big Bend, and portions of southern Georgia on Saturday. Afternoon heat index values are expected to climb above 108 degrees in many areas.

Anyone who is sensitive to heat, spends extended time outdoors, or does not have access to adequate cooling and hydration should take extra precautions. Stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, and check on vulnerable family members and neighbors.

Waterspout Risk Along the Coast

There is an increased chance for waterspouts to develop Saturday morning over the coastal waters near Bay, Gulf, Franklin, Wakulla, and Taylor counties. Boaters should remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and monitor forecasts before heading out on the water.

Rain Chances Increasing This Weekend

After several mostly dry days, rain and thunderstorm chances will gradually increase through the weekend and into early next week.

Saturday will bring scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with coverage becoming more widespread by Sunday. The best chances for rain are expected Tuesday and Wednesday as a weather system and approaching front bring deeper moisture into the region.
