ALABAMA — A Tornado Watch has been issued for 19 counties across southern and west-central Alabama as severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds and heavy rainfall move through the region Thursday.
The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center issued Tornado Watch 351, which remains in effect until 5 p.m. CDT Thursday.
The watch includes the Alabama counties of Baldwin, Butler, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Dallas, Escambia, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Perry, Sumter, Washington and Wilcox.
In addition to the tornado threat, the National Weather Service in Mobile is warning of particularly dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding across portions of southwest Alabama today.
