Dangerous Heat Expected Across Alabama Prompts Heat Advisory

Summer in the Deep South is always hot, but over the next several days, there is a concern for extreme heat, with heat indices rising to 105 degrees or greater across Alabama.

In addition to the dangerous heat in Alabama and the southern region, our area is included in a heat dome that is building across a very large section of the Central United States.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Heat Advisory in effect from Monday, June 29, at 11 a.m. through Tuesday, June 30, at 9 p.m.

Residents should expect heat index values up to 105.
