ALEA stressing water safety after recent drownings across Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – In response to a Saturday drowning in Millbrook that left a juvenile dead, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is reminding the public that water recreation comes with “inherent risk” and that safety planning is critical on all bodies of water.

“There’s just a level of danger associated with water-related activities,” said Capt. Jeremy Burkett with ALEA.

ALEA said the guidance it shares with troopers and agents is the same message for the public: be intentional every time you’re on or near the water, whether boating, kayaking or swimming…
