MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Sometimes creating change means having tough conversations, and that was what Montgomery nonprofit “Stay Out Of Prison”—or S.O.O.P.—facilitated with their “Chop it Up” discussion on Saturday in an effort to reduce youth gun violence.
It’s an issue that plagues Alabama’s capital city. Last year, over half of all homicide arrests were suspects 21 and under.
Speakers with experience on either side of the law had a clear message: If your first resort to address conflict is with a gun, you’ll more than likely end up dead or in jail…
