MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) – Residents of two apartments were displaced on Monday after a fire broke out on a patio.
The Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department said Monday afternoon that crews responded to reports of a fire at Nottingham Apartments just before 7 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, crews said they found “heavy smoke and flames coming from a second-floor apartment.”
Residents were quickly evacuated, but two units were damaged in the blaze. One of those apartments “sustained significant damage,” firefighters said, with pictures showing the wooden patio completely charred and the ceiling collapsed with the beams covered in soot. The second apartment received water damage.
“The fire started on a back patio and spread into the attic,” the department said. “Crews quickly brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading further. … Aoo other residents were able to return to their homes.”…
