Metro Nashville Airport Authority joins lawsuit over state takeover law set to take effect July 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) voted Wednesday to join Metro Nashville in a federal lawsuit challenging a newly enacted state law that would replace the current airport board when the legislation takes effect July 1.

The vote came during a specially called meeting as commissioners weighed whether the authority should become a plaintiff alongside Metro in a legal challenge to Public Act 978.

Public Act 978, signed by Gov. Bill Lee in May, applies to Tennessee’s metropolitan and regional airport authorities. The law vacates existing airport authority boards and replaces them with new governing bodies beginning July 1…
