Flash Flood Emergency for Cumberland & Clinton counties in Kentucky after nearly 8 inches of rain falls overnight

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) – A dangerous flash flooding situation is unfolding across parts of southern Kentucky after torrential rain overnight.

A Flash Flood Emergency remains in effect for Cumberland and Clinton counties until 11:15 a.m. A Flash Flood Emergency is the highest level of flash flood alert issued by the National Weather Service and is reserved for rare situations where catastrophic, life-threatening flooding is occurring or imminent.

Since midnight, nearly eight inches of rain has fallen in Cumberland County, with another one to two inches possible before the rain tapers off. Emergency Management officials have already responded to reports of flooded roads and at least one flooded home…
