NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — State Rep. Mike Sparks (R-Smyrna) is renewing his push to reduce the school bus driver age limit in Tennessee, which requires drivers to be 25-years-old or older to drive a school bus.
“Some members may not think it’s a crisis, but unless it’s your child or grandchild at the school bus stop waiting for a school bus, it is a crisis,” Sparks told News 2.
Multiple school bus routes remain unfilled in Rutherford County
The push comes after school systems, including Rutherford County Schools, have continued to struggle filling bus routes. Sparks said the change could help alleviate the states’ bus driver shortage.
