Help Siegel High School library win a $40K makeover

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Students at a Murfreesboro high school could have the library of their dreams come of life thanks to national contest.

Siegel High School is one of three school libraries in the running to win a $40,000 furniture makeover from furniture maker KI.

Librarian and teacher Caroline Ott was selected from hundreds of teachers who submitted designs for their dream classroom or library.

Ott says the design includes a colorful learning commons that would add a relaxed space to the school library and media center, which serves 2,000 students.

“We have a beautiful space here with update carpet and paint, and it’s just waiting for the final touches from KI with flexible seating.”

According to Ott, the versatile space would support a variety of activities the library supports, including student classes and projects, staff meetings, student counseling sessions and afterschool clubs.

“When I created a design, I thought about a place that kids would want to come in,” said Ott. “Our space is used all the time. So, I was just trying to create a cool vibe with cool furniture that is just not in the budget for the normal library.”
