Nashville walked away from ICE; now the state may force it back

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville walked away from a controversial immigration program years ago. Now, a new Tennessee bill could force the city back in or risk losing state funding.

In 2008, Juana Villegas was nine months pregnant when she was pulled over for a minor traffic violation in Berry Hill. At the time, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office was part of a federal immigration program known as 287(g).
