Hundreds arrested during Memorial Day weekend in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WPDE) — Myrtle Beach Police Department (MBPD) handled thousands of calls for service and made hundreds of arrests and citations during Memorial Day weekend, according to numbers released by the department.

Police said officers responded to 2,291 calls for service as thousands of visitors traveled to Myrtle Beach for the holiday weekend. Of those calls, 1,598 were self-initiated by officers, reflecting what the department described as a strong proactive policing presence throughout the city.

As part of those enforcement efforts, officers made 394 bookings and issued 851 citations over the weekend…
