YMCA of Coastal Carolina to receive $10M from Horry County for regional aquatics center

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A major investment is set to help bring a new aquatic facility to Horry County.

The YMCA of Coastal Carolina announced on Wednesday that it will receive $10 million from Horry County to help fund a planned Regional Aquatics Center that will expand water safety education and bring major swimming events to the Myrtle Beach area.

The YMCA said the funding was approved as part of Horry County Council’s budget, passed May 19. Officials said the money will come from previously collected hospitality fee revenue, not county millage, meaning there will be no tax increase for residents…
