Defective brake light stop in Myrtle Beach turns up attempted homicide suspect

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WPDE) — A traffic stop for a defective brake light led to the discovery of a wanted man for attempted homicide and a drug seizure, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department (MBPD).

A K9 officer observed a vehicle on Highway 501 with a defective brake light and initiated a traffic stop. Police said they identified the front passenger as a man involved with an attempted homicide and conducted a felony stop.

Officers searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana coming from it and found an AR-15-style rifle, fentanyl, crack cocaine, a handgun, marijuana, additional suspected cocaine, and two cell phones…
