Horry County woman facing charges in connection with child’s death

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Horry County woman is facing charges in the death of a child, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

SLED charged Makiah Long, 22, with homicide by child abuse and two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child on Thursday, an agency news release said.

Warrants state a 2-year-old child was taken to McLeod Florence Hospital on March 17 with injuries, including bleeding on both sides of the brain (bilateral subdural hematomas), a large swelling or bruise on the forehead and bruising.
