As the largest cooperative in the United States, HTC provides their members with the area’s largest fiber network. And by the end of 2026 the Cooperative will have reached its goal of one that is fully fiber.
From 2004 to present, HTC has deployed approximately 12,500 miles of fiber throughout Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties. But that’s not all, as an additional 2,000 miles of fiber are being prepared for installation. In total, this is enough fiber to stretch more than halfway around the globe.
While fiber deployment by HTC began in the early 2000s and the first true fiber-to-the-premise networks came online in 2006, a concerted effort to bring high-speed internet access across Horry County began in 2016.
