Veterans thrift shop in Little River closes after grant denial

LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) – A veterans’ nonprofit has permanently closed its thrift store after losing a grant that provided $10K a month from Horry County.

The Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center opened the thrift shop in 2022 to take donations from the community and provide free furniture, clothing, and personal care items to veterans in need.

All funding to keep the store open came from grants the organization applied for, including the Horry County grant…
