CONWAY, S.C. — Every good party has a pregame.
And before America’s 250th anniversary celebrations take over the Grand Strand and the rest of the country, downtown Conway will get the red, white and blue festivities started with the 46th annual Conway Riverfest on Saturday, June 27 — a week before the Fourth of July weekend.
This year’s event will have something for the entire family to enjoy, with all-day entertainment, including: live music, local food vendors, a golf cart parade, water recreation, cornhole tournament and a grand finale firework show.
Morning
- Paddle Battle River Races — 4th Ave & Hwy 905 Bridge — 10 a.m.
- Register ($30 and you receive a t-shirt) and compete for the second annual Paddle Battle at Conway Riverfest. The 1.5 mile race on the Waccamaw River features kayak, canoe, and standup paddleboard divisions. The course starts and finishes at the Riverwalk Extension near the 4th Avenue and Hwy 905 Bridge.
- Opening Ceremonies — Elm Street Stage — 11 a.m.
- Carolina Energy Conservation Golf Cart Parade — Elm Street — 11:30 a.m.
- The parade is free for anyone who wants to enter a golf cart. Registration can be done in person at Conway Chamber of Commerce, 203 Main Street, or by emailing [email protected].
- Judges will award four trophies:
- Liberty Bell Award, most original golf cart
- Yankee Doodle Award, most spirited golf cart
- Stars and Stripes Award, most patriotic golf cart
- Statue of Liberty Award, overall golf cart winner
- Philly Pretzel Factory Cornhole — 7 Elm Street (old tennis courts) — Noon
- Registration starts at 11 a.m. and the tournament begins at noon.
- There will be two different brackets — both double elimination format. Cash payouts will be given to the winning teams.
- Tailgate Bracket is the “just-for-fun bracket” — $10 per player or $20 per team
- Advanced Bracket is for competitive players — $20 per player or $40 per team
