Scattered showers and thunderstorms

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A cold front moved through the area yesterday, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms across the region. Multiple Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued during the afternoon and evening, with some storms causing downed tree limbs and a few road blockages.

We’re expecting another round of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, and some storms could once again become strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area under a Level 1 (Marginal) Risk for severe weather today, which is lower than yesterday’s threat level. The primary concern will be damaging straight-line winds with any stronger thunderstorms that develop.

Temperatures will be noticeably lower than they were yesterday, making it feel less hot and humid. Highs this afternoon will reach the low to mid-80s, which is slightly below average for this time of year.
