Surfside Beach renourishment shifts work zone, revises sand placement plan

SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — A beach renourishment project in Surfside Beach is bringing new closures and a shift in where crews will be working as the effort continues.

Work began in early July, and town officials said crews will now continue from the Garden City line to just before the Third Avenue South swash, instead of stopping at 12th Avenue South as originally planned.

The beach remains closed from 14th Avenue South to Sixth Avenue South through late Friday or early Saturday while crews finish that section…
