Pastor, wife, school director charged in Pawleys Island church school investigation

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaver announced criminal charges Monday afternoon against the leaders of the Pawleys Island Community Church and its Christian Academy.

The charges come after news surfaced last week that the church allowed registered sex offender William Perry to volunteer at the church and school. Perry was arrested Tuesday on a parole violation and is charged with obstruction of justice and criminal conspiracy. He was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center Monday afternoon.

Pastor Don Williams and Jennifer Nicole “Niki” Howard, director of the Pawleys Island Christian Academy, are each charged with obstruction of justice, unlawfully placing a child at harm or abandoning a child; and criminal conspiracy.
